I became your Labour MP for Bournemouth East to fight for a better future for our community.

From fixing the NHS to tackling the climate crisis, I’m here to make big decisions, not just talk about our problems. I’m a natural optimist; I want to make life better for everyone, ensuring each generation has more opportunities than the last.

Growing up as a council house kid caring for my disabled parents, I saw firsthand how vital public services can be. I relied on free school meals and was the first in my family to go to university, thanks to the dedication of teachers who worked tirelessly to give kids like me a chance. I worked long hours in retail and hospitality to afford my studies and eventually earned a place at Cambridge and a fellowship at Yale University. Those experiences shaped my determination to break down barriers to opportunity for others.

My career has always been about driving change, whether in local government or as CEO of a mental health and domestic abuse charity. I’ve set up essential services for those facing homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health crises, because no one should feel like they’re left behind.

I’m not afraid of a challenge; I’ve worked on groundbreaking projects like the UK’s largest solar carport and grid-scale hybrid battery, alongside leading the first Citizens’ Assembly on Climate Change in the UK.

Now, in Parliament, I’m continuing that work by tackling the issues that affect us all—improving housing, expanding opportunity, fixing our public services, and driving forward green infrastructure. I live in the constituency and understand the challenges local families face.

Westminster is a bubble, there’s no hiding it.

But I’m always going to take Bournemouth East’s voice to Parliament with me. Already, I’ve secured and led the first Parliamentary debate on playgrounds for eight years so that the Government can hear how important playgrounds are to people locally. Now, I’m championing renters’ stories, so that when decisions are made, they’re made with people’s experiences in mind.

While many of our problems start in Westminster, I’m here to tackle their roots, fighting for a fairer, greener, and safer future for Bournemouth East.
