Beaufort Community Centre will now reopen on 14 September! That is an important first step — but now we need to decide some big questions:

1. How do we open the whole building, not just part of it
2. How do we put the centre under long-term community control, not council control?
3. How do we ensure the centre brings down its running costs?
4. How do we make sure the centre raises enough money to stay open in the long-term?
5. What services and activities do you want the centre to provide?

Hundreds of local people have already completed my survey and shared their ideas with me, your Labour Town Councillor Patrick Connolly, and local champion Simon Adorian.

A majority of residents want an inviting, inclusive community hub, with more opportunities for children and young people, affordable activities for families, activities that tackle loneliness, exercise and arts events, and somewhere people can meet for a coffee and a chat.

Now I want to bring residents together to discuss those ideas, hear what matters most to you, and start shaping a shared vision for Beaufort’s future.
