Pride in Place: £20 million for Boscombe West
Published: 20 March 2026
To the people of Boscombe West, I have fantastic news.
In recent months, I and others have been fighting behind the scenes to secure real change for our community.
Today, I can announce that this Labour government has agreed to a £20 million investment in Boscombe West.
That’s £2 million a year for the next ten years, money that local people will decide how to spend.
The finance is coming from the Government’s Pride in Place fund, an investment that I have made Boscombe’s case for in Parliament.
This funding is to make life better: filling potholes, fixing playgrounds, opening libraries longer, making our streets safer and confronting dangerous behaviour in our community.
First, I must thank Bournemouth Foodbank, YMCA Bournemouth, Citizens Advice Bureau, and the BCP Poverty Truth Commission.
Their work for this achievement has been vital.
Securing this funding has been a shared effort with the other Labour MPs of this area too.
Jessica Toale of Bournemouth West has achieved the same for West Howe, as has Neil-Duncan Jordan for the suburb of Hamworthy in his constituency.
£60 million of funding for regeneration across Bournemouth and Poole.
But this isn’t a Labour government investing in Labour constituencies, it’s a government that is backing parts of the country that deserve it.
Each area will be the beneficiary of £2 million a year for the next decade. Funding that will last not just beyond this parliament, but beyond the next one too.
And that funding will benefit the generations to come.
How the money for Boscombe will be spent will be decided by an independent board chaired by an independent leader.
That board will be made up of people who live and work here, people that care about Boscombe.
To get the ball rolling, I’m asking you to fill in a short survey and join my meeting where we’ll be looking at five themes and encouraging you to share your ideas:
- Housing and Health
- Youth and Communities
- High Streets and Heritage
- Business and Transport
- Education and Culture
Many of you voted for change. As a community, we now have the money to bring that change about. Your voice can dictate what that looks like.
