The Government has announced the Warm Homes Plan, a £15 billion investment to tackle fuel poverty and cut bills for up to one million families.

This is the largest ever investment in home upgrades in Britain, and one that we need to reduce our independence on insecure and unclean energy.

The plan will cover funding for solar panels, heat pumps, improved insulation and batteries, as well as immediate action to cut energy bills, with an average of £150 off people’s energy bills this coming April.

A warm home should not be a privilege, but a guarantee for every family in Britain.

The plan intends to triple the amount of homes with installed solar panels by 2030, with homeowners being able to apply for government-supported low and zero interest loans for their installation.

Moreover, the Future Homes Standard will ensure that every new home is fitted with solar panels.

Between 2010 and 2024, the installment of house insulation fell by more than 90%, and as a result, millions of homes have been made to pay higher energy bills.

Insulation and clean energy is the way that we address energy affordability in this country for good.

Alongside the Warm Homes Plan, Labour are introducing new protections for renters and people in social housing, with new investment in energy-saving upgrades for their homes.

This is a step towards taking hundreds of pounds off energy bills in Bournemouth East and across Great Britain.
