Ensuring the Basics are Done Right

Bournemouth Labour’s Local Election Campaign
Published: 20 April 2026
Today, Labour announced our local election campaign and the councillors that will stand for the ten wards in Bournemouth Town Council.
Our candidates are standing because of their heart for local issues.
Issues that they can amend and fight for if chosen to represent you.
They’re seeking election to fix our playgrounds, to repaint our historic street lights and for the restoration of community spaces like Charminster Library and Swanmore Gardens.
They’re standing to ensure the basics are done right.
Labour opposed the creation of the town council, but that bears no relationship to the utmost effort they will give in representing the communities of Bournemouth if elected.
Some of these candidates you’ll already know.
Councillor George Farquhar and Councillor Patrick Canavan have both worked untiringly for Boscombe and Pokesdown since their elections in 2019 and 2023 respectively.
They’ve helped me secure £20 million of Pride in Place funding for Boscombe from the Labour government, money that will benefit the community for generations to come.
The £2.6 million investment in Pokesdown station and the £2.5 million for a new Sure Start Family Hub in Boscombe could not have been achieved without them either.
Simon Adorian, a former headteacher and our candidate for Southbourne and Tuckton is standing to fight the closure of Beaufort Community Centre.
Another former teacher, Patrick Connoly, is our man in Littledown and Iford. He wants to restore Swanmore Gardens and Kings Park Nursery to public use, improving our town for our children and grandchildren.
Louise Norman and Eyyup Kilinc will both stand for the seats in Strouden and Queen’s Park, and will work tirelessly to reopen Charminster Library and fix our playgrounds.
Labour stands ready to represent Bournemouth and continue to protect the cornerstones of our community.
