Public Meeting: Safety in Townsend
After knocking on doors and attending community events like Greet on the Green, I have heard concerns about crime and antisocial behaviour in Townsend and nearby areas.
I grew up with antisocial neighbours who damaged the quality of my family’s life, and I know this can seriously affect people. Like you, I am unhappy with illegal and reckless e-bike and e-scooter use locally and am working to tackle this with tough regulation and policing and an expansion of youth opportunities locally.
I have separately urged the council to use new government funding to fill potholes, so that you can drive safely.
Ensuring your homes and streets are safe is the responsibility of the police. That is why I am organising a meeting for you to share your concerns with me, Police Commissioner David Sidwick, and a police inspector. I want us to agree a way forward to a safer Townsend using some of the 14 extra police officers that have been recruited.
The meeting will be held in the Townsend area on Saturday 10 October at 19:00.
To attend, please register using the link below. You will be emailed the location of the meeting on the morning of the meeting.
Due to finite venue capacity and safety requirements, we will only be able to admit people who register for the event before it reaches capacity.
